1. TO LEARN, GROW, AND TEACH
OTHERS WHAT I KNOW
2. TO TRAVEL
3. WINE!
Passion #1: Learning and Development and Education~ I have worked as a Corporate Learning and Development Specialist for nearly 10 years and have taught college level courses at Purdue University-Calumet and The City Colleges of Chicago. I have teaching, facilitation and instructional design experience and a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from The University of Iowa and Purdue University, respectively.Passion #2: Travel~ I became interested in wine directly after college when I began traveling an exploring different cultures and trying local wines with the local cuisines. I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel all over the world. I continue to travel as often as I can, and when I do, I often focus on wine related regions and enjoy visiting wineries, meeting winemakers and winery owners. You will see many photos of winemakers and winery owners throughout this site.Passion #3: Wine~ I began working in the wine industry at Sam's Wine and Spirits (now Binny's Beverage Depot) back in 2004, where I worked part-time in the gourmet food deli. There I quickly learned a lot about pairing food and wine, especially cheese and wine. After learning a lot about food and wine pairing, I worked as a part-time wine consultant at a number of places throughout Chicago, including: Que Syrah in Lakeview, and Randolph Wine Cellars. It was during my tenure at Que Syrah that I attended the International Sommelier Guild's certification courses at the Institute of Art in Chicago. Upon completion of my Sommelier certification, I began working at Randolph Wine Cellars and started Vino Di Savino. I now work for Schaefer's in Skokie, IL where I have been a part-time wine consultant for two years. I also teach wine courses throughout the city of Chicago at various wine bars and establishments, and am a wine consultant to several wine bars in Chicago. Recently, I also passed my Spanish Wine Educators certification from the Spanish Wine Academy in Spain. I don't ever want to stop learning about wine.My mission is to share my passion and knowledge of wine with others and make the process fun, unintimidating, and easy. I assure you, a little knowledge goes a long way when it comes to wine. Cheers!

1. Swallow.
We encourage it. You won't see us spitting out wine unless it is corked or really bad. Some of us wine lovers just can't let good wine go to waste.
2. There's no place
for snobbery when it comes to wine. Wine tasting parties are
about experimentation, asking questions and having fun, not snobbery or uptightness. We encourage experimentation with different grape varietals, smelling and tasting techniques. Whatever works for you, do it!
3.Who cares if you like
4.We all learn best by doing. Sure, it's one thing to hear about wine, it's another to read about it, but quite frankly that's not enough! People learn best by actually tasting wine. It takes a lot of practice to get good at determining aromas, bouquets, and subtle nuances. The more you practice, the better you'll get. So let's start practicing!
white zinfandel!!
If you prefer heavily oaked chardonnays or boxed Franzia, then so be it! It's what YOU like that is important. We will cater to your interests and preferences and make suggestions to help complement and expand your palate.
